ST. MAARTEN HEINEKEN REGATTA 2011 ADDS GOLDENDOG CUP PRIZE FOR FASTEST CHARITY RUN
- ANNUAL GOLDENDOG CUP PROVIDED BY FOUR-TIME HEINEKEN REGATTA CHAMPS TEAM GOLDENDOG TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO SAIL FOR CHARITY
MILFORD, CT USA/ SIMPSON BAY, ST. MAARTEN, DWI - 8 FEBRUARY 2011 - The 2011 St. Maarten Heineken Regatta adds the "Team Goldendog Cup" prize for the fastest boat racing in the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta for a charitable cause. The Team Goldendog Cup is provided by the four-time St. Maarten Heineken Regatta champs Team Goldendog, a US based sailing team with strong ties to the island of St. Maarten, DWI/St. Martin, FWI, who have raced in the last seven regattas to raise funds and awareness for homeless and abandoned animals.
According to the Director of the 2011 Heineken Regatta, Heather Tackling, "the Goldendog Cup will be awarded each year at the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta to the team which sails for a recognized charity taking the highest position in any class in the regatta excluding the lottery class. In the case of multiple teams having the same position in class, the tie will be broken on the lowest points scored."
Ms. Tackling continued, "as you know, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is all about 'Serious Fun". With three days of competitive sailing, top line musical venues, and amazing parties in a tropical paradise, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is the ultimate Caribbean sailing event. Many of the boats in the Regatta are sponsored by businesses, however more and more teams each year are racing for charity. We are very excited to add the Goldendog Cup, and to encourage all forms of charitable participation in the Regatta. Having Serious Fun and giving back to your favorite charity is without a doubt the best way to enjoy the true competitive nature of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta."
Jeffrey Sochrin, Chairman and Founder of Team Goldendog explained, "this year we announced Team Goldendog will not sail in the 2011 St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, suspending the sailing portion of our 2011 campaign, in memory of dearly departed Golden Retriever Max. Instead, the team will concentrate on raising funds and awareness for homeless and abandoned animals in Max's honor."
Mr. Sochrin continued, "when we started racing back in 2004, there were very few boats racing to help charities. As the word got out that several boats were doing it, the idea caught on and now the numbers of charitable participants has increased each year.
The Goldendog Cup will serve as a vehicle to raise the awareness to the plight of homeless, needy and abused animals, but also recognizes the importance of philanthropy, volunteering and charitable giving of other competitors in the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta."
"Sochrin continued, "in Max's honor, Team Goldendog is offering a fantastic spectator program to follow the race aboard the Garfield Fun Cat. Traditionally the TGD Chase Boat, Garfield will offer motorized day trips for he Regatta, providing the best way to watch the action. A portion of all Garfield's proceeds will go to support Team Goldendog. Additionally, there will be several locations selling Team Goldendog T-Shirts and stickers."
"For the last seven years, Team Goldendog has raised over US $50,000 to help homeless and abandoned animals. The money goes to support the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation, Les Quatre Pattes (SXM PAWS) and Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. In addition, Team Goldendog has worked with the I Love My Island Dog Association. We could not have done any of this without the partnership and assistance from all of our wonderful and supporting sponsors. We would like to thank them all from the bottom of our hearts: Bikini Beach Bar, Shiva's Gold and Gems, The Red Piano, Peg Leg Pub and Steakhouse, UTS, Goldendaze, Soremar Auto Group, Don Camillo, Garfield Fun Cat, Island 92, Triple A Car Rental, The Gingerbread Café, Pineapple Pete's, The Alley, ESPN Café, The New 3 Palms Restaurant and Lounge, Jennifer's Vacation Villas, Bonita's Cantina, DK and C, Taloula Mango's, Century 21, Caribbean Video Services, Bavaria, Roll Shutters, Good2Go, Jimbo's Rock and Blues Café, Mega Gym, Skip Jack's, Vinnisimo/Bel Mar, Toppers Restaurant, Harrigan Exterminating Services, Dominos Pizza (St. Maarten), www.websitesthatwork.info , www.everythingstmaarten.com and Mr. Paul Reynolds of Tropical Drinks.
"Team Goldendog would like to thank Heather Tackling and all the good people at the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, and we look forward to racing again in 2012 and we wish all participants in the 31st Annual St. Maarten Heineken Regatta a safe and successful race."

Four TIME Bareboat Champs Team Goldendog PREPARES FOR
THE 2010 HEINEKEN REGATTA TO BENEFIT THE ST. MAARTEN ANIMAL WELFARE
FOUNDATION & SXM PAWS
MILFORD, CT USA/ SIMPSON BAY, ST. MAARTEN, NA - 26 February, 2010 – Team
Goldendog, a US based sailing team with strong ties to the island of St.
Maarten, NA/St. Martin, FWI, today announced they will compete in this
years 30th Annual Heineken Regatta held on St. Maarten, NA/St. Martin,
FWI and its surrounding waters March 5 – 7, 2010. Unlike most sailing
organizations, Team Goldendog sails with a greater cause in mind,
“helping homeless animals find their forever homes”, donating all funds
raised to The St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation, Les Quatre Pattes
(SXM Paws) and Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of Hudson, Massachusetts,
USA.
“We are very pleased to announce the kick-off of the 2010 Team Goldendog
racing season with the Heineken Regatta. This year we continue to sail
for the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation, Les Quatre Pattes/SXM
PAWS and the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of Hudson, Massachusetts,
USA. As we, at Team Goldendog, are an “all volunteer” outfit, it is very
important to us that the groups we support utilize the funds we raise
with great purpose and integrity. On St. Maarten, both SXM Paws and St.
Maarten Animal Welfare are truly dedicated and uphold the highest
standards, we are very honored and grateful to be able to support these
local groups”, stated Jeffrey W. Sochrin, Chairman and Founder of Team
Goldendog.
Mr. Sochrin continued, “It is our endeavor to be competitive in the
Bareboat Division enhancing the sport of sailing, while bringing a
heightened awareness to a cause that is very important to us and our
sponsors. With “serious fun” in mind, we are prepared to defend our
2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Bareboat class wins again this year. Garfield
and Garfield Too will continue serve as the official chase boat and
spectator boat to Team Goldendog. You can make reservations to see the
regatta up close and personal aboard Garfield by visiting the Heineken
Regatta website at
www.heinekenregatta.com . The-Race/Follow-the-Race/ under Race
Info/Follow the Race. The net proceeds from the Garfield admission price
will go directly to our cause. In addition, Halsey’s Restaurant located
in Simpson Bay, St. Maarten will be providing a great lunch aboard
Garfield to each passenger. So, thank you to Bruce and Lorna Hancocks of
Garfield and Chef Ryan Halsey of Halsey’s for keeping this important
part of our program alive”.
Mr. Sochrin further stated, “Our continued success at aiding homeless
and abandoned animals has allowed the interest in our cause and our
program to grow exponentially each year. Since our founding in 2004, we
have contributed just under US $40,000 to worthy animal rescue
organizations. Our total number of sponsors now exceeds 35 and while all
organizations are feeling the pinch of these tough economic times, Team
Goldendog is committed to keep this mission alive. I must also make note
of a new comer to our family. Eric Brown of Peg Leg Pub and Steakhouse
heard about Team Goldendog from Jack and Linda Parker, the former
proprietors. Eric was so enthusiastic about Team Goldendog, that Peg Leg
Pub has deepened its commitment to our cause by becoming a Diamond Level
sponsor this season. We are humbled and grateful. We also continue to
work closely with our founding sponsor, Elisa Cohen of “Bikini Beach”,
who enabled us to build this legacy. Make sure you meet Samui, our
Global Ambassador, when you visit Bikini Beach”.
“Team Goldendog will donate all of the net proceeds raised by its
participation in this year’s regatta equally between the St. Maarten
Animal Welfare Foundation, SXM Paws, and the Yankee Golden Retriever
Rescue of Hudson, Massachusetts, USA. If everyone does just one thing to
help a cause they believe in, the world will simply be a better place”,
concluded Sochrin.
Team Goldendog apparel (race shirts and hats) may be purchased at Bikini
Beach Bar, Peg Leg Pub, Halsey’s Restaurant and Lounge, Bonita’s Cantina
and Topper’s Restaurant and Bar. Quantities are limited to so make sure
you get your official Team Goldendog attire and be part of our
continuing mission to help homeless animals find their forever homes.

- THE GOLDEN HALL OF FAME AT ITS NEW WEBSITE –
WWW.TEAMGOLDENDOG.ORG
- 35 SPONSORS PROUDLY MAKE UP THE TEAM GOLDENDOG FAMILY
MILFORD, CT USA/ SIMPSON BAY, ST. MAARTEN, NA – 25 February, 2008
– TEAM GOLDENDOG, ’06 and ’07 Heineken Regatta Bareboat Winners and US
based sailing team with strong ties to the island of St. Maarten, NA/St.
Martin, FWI, today announced their new website, www.teamgoldendog.org.
The website will host a new feature, the “Golden Hall of Fame” where you
can submit photographs of your beloved pet by emailing them to
photo@teamgoldendog.org. Additionally, TGD has a record 35 sponsors for
this year’s Heineken Regatta.
“Over the last few years, our team has been very successful in winning
’06 and ’07 Heineken Regattas, and we have built a new website that we
are very excited about to address all the interest in what we do. The
website is designed by www.everythingstmaarten.com and
www.websitesthatwork.info, and is are courtesy of their CEO Jeff Berger
to whom we are extraordinarily grateful”, stated Jeff Sochrin, the
Chairman and Founder of Team Goldendog.
Jeff Berger, CEO of www.everythingstmaarten.com and
www.websitesthatwork.info
stated “Working with Team Goldendog to design and create a new and
modern website which will allow for ease of use and hopefully more
donations to help this great cause has been our pleasure. We are happy
to be able to help Team Goldendog and wish them the best for the 2008
Heineken Regatta!”
Sochrin continued, “The fortunate success of our racing has given our
cause amazing visibility and exceeded our expectations of what we set
out to do, which is help homeless and abused pets. People and businesses
have been extremely generous with their sponsorship dollars, time and
effort – and wherever I go, it seems I am hearing more and more
heartwarming stories of those who have either helped pets or adopted
them. To that end, I decided I really wanted to share those stories and
the love people showed, so we have created the GOLDEN HALL OF FAME. This
is a page on our website where anyone is able to send us a photo of
their pet or a pet they know of and love, along with their story. It’s
free of charge and gives people the opportunity to share with all of us.
The Photos for the Golden Hall of Fame can emailed to
photo@teamgoldendog.org free of charge although a donation is
appreciated. The new website allows for secure donations through PayPal,
we accept AMEX, VISA and Mastercard as well as Bank Cards.”
“TEAM GOLDENDOG will donate all of the net proceeds raised by its
participation in this year’s regatta equally between the St. Maarten
Animal Welfare Foundation and the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of
Hudson, Massachusetts, USA. Over the next several weeks, look for
special events on the island and get involved supporting our cause. If
everyone does just one thing to help a cause they believe in, the world
will simply be a better place”, concluded Sochrin.

PREPARE FOR THE
2007 HEINEKEN REGATTA TO BENEFIT THE ST. MAARTEN ANIMAL WELFARE
FOUNDATION
The Garfield Fun Cat added as New Chase Boat and
Official Spectator Boat!
MILFORD, CT USA/ PHILIPSBURG ST. MAARTEN, NA - 12
January, 2007 – Team Goldendog, a US based sailing team with
strong ties to the island of St. Maarten, NA/St. Martin, FWI, today
announced they will compete in this years 27th annual Heineken Regatta
held on St. Maarten, NA/St. Martin, FWI and its surrounding waters March
2 – 4, 2007. Unlike most sailing organizations, Team Goldendog
sails with a greater cause in mind; “helping homeless animals find
their forever homes”.
“We are very pleased to be sailing for the benefit of the St. Maarten
Animal Welfare Foundation while representing the Milford Yacht Club.
Our crew members have sailed all over the world, especially in the
Northeastern United States, and have competed in the past three
Heinekens, said Jeffrey W. Sochrin, Chairman of Team Goldendog.
“It is our endeavor to be competitive in the Bareboat Division enhancing
the sport of sailing, while bringing a heightened awareness to a cause
that is very important to us and our sponsors– helping homeless
animals find their forever homes. With “serious fun” in mind, we
are prepared to defend our 2006 Bareboat 3 class win again this year”,
stated Mr. Sochrin.
Sochrin continued, “We are excited to announce that Garfield (the Fun
Cat) will be joining the Team Goldendog family. Garfield is a
27 foot power catamaran that will serve as the Chase Boat to Team
Goldendog and she will also serve as our Official Spectator Boat
during the regatta. Garfield can hold 10 passengers per day who will
get to enjoy the regatta up close and personal. The net proceeds from
the Garfield admission price will go directly to our cause, “helping
homeless animals find their forever homes”. In addition, Subway
(Cole Bay) of St. Maarten will be providing a great lunch aboard
Garfield to each passenger. So, thank you to Bruce and Lorna Hancocks
and Kevin of Subway for helping us expand our program again this year”.
Mr. Sochrin further stated, “Our continued success at aiding homeless
and abandoned animals has allowed the interest in our cause and our
program to grow exponentially each year. During 2004, our first year,
we had one sponsor, in 2005 we had seven sponsors, in 2006 we had twenty
five sponsors and this year I anticipate we will have close to thirty
sponsors. We continue to work closely with our founding sponsor, Elisa
Cohen of “Bikini Beach”, who enabled us to build this legacy. Her
support and encouragement has been invaluable in making what we dream of
doing a reality – competing, and making a worthwhile contribution to
something we all believe in!”
“Team Goldendog will donate all of the net proceeds raised
by its participation in this year’s regatta equally between the St.
Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation and the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue
of Hudson, Massachusetts, USA. As the regatta gets closer, look for
special events on the island and get involved supporting our cause. If
everyone does just one thing to help a cause they believe in, the world
will simply be a better place”, concluded Sochrin.

sightseeing service on the island of St. Maarten. Located right behind
SkipJack’s restaurant on Simpson Bay Lagoon, Garfield is a 27 ft.
motorized catamaran run by expert sea veteran, Captain Bruce Hancocks.
With over 10 years of island exploration experience, Captain Bruce knows
all the hidden spots on St. Maarten where other single hulled boats

safaris, mega-yacht tours, secluded beach trips, exploring the lagoon to
coastal or deep-sea fishing and even your own custom charters, Garfield
does it all. The secret is the versatile shallow-draft hull design
which allows Garfield right up on the beach so you are just as

TEAM GOLDENDOG PRESENTS
DONATION TO THE ST. MAARTEN ANIMAL WELFARE FOUNDATION
MILFORD, CT USA/ PHILIPSBURG ST. MAARTEN, NA –
05 April 2006 – Team Goldendog, a US based sailing
team with strong ties to the island of St. Maarten, NA/St. Martin, FWI
and winner of the Bareboat 3 Class of the 26th Annual Heineken Regatta,
is pleased to announce that it has donated the proceeds of its
fundraising efforts to the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation.
Members of the Team Goldendog family were on hand, including:
Jeff Sochrin, Charles Southworth, Tamara Deutsch, Su Wathey and a local
island rescue dog named “Stinkey”, at the Island 92 headquarters to
present a check for $2,650 US to the St. Maarten Animal Welfare
Foundation. The presentation was broadcast live over Island 92 Radio’s
morning program with Bogart.
“We are pleased to present this check to the Animal
Welfare Foundation as part of our ongoing commitment to help
homeless animals find their forever homes”, stated Jeffrey W.
Sochrin, Chairman and Founder of Team Goldendog. He continued,
“this year’s donation is larger than years past and we look forward to
supporting the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation for many years to
come. In addition to our contribution on St. Maarten, we will be
visiting our friends at the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of Hudson,
MA, USA and presenting them with a check for the same amount”.
In addition to the Team Goldendog
contribution, Mr. and Mrs. George and Frances Stiffel of Canada made a
contribution of $500 US to the St. Maarten Animal Welfare Foundation.
They learned about the Team Goldendog fundraising program on
Island 92 and wanted to lend support. As part time residents of the
island, they are supporters of numerous local charitable causes.
Su Wathey, representing the St. Maarten Animal Welfare
Foundation was on site to accept the donation, “Contributions like these
are so critical in enabling us to rescue and assist the animal community
here on St. Maarten. Every year dogs and cats are left abandoned,
uncared for and unloved on this beautiful island paradise, however it’s
not a paradise for them. Only through the hard work and generous
donations of volunteers who open their hearts, homes and wallets can we
make a difference. So thanks to Jeff and everyone on Team Goldendog!”
Jeff Sochrin continued, “I want to thank all the TGD
sponsors, volunteers and members of the Team Goldendog family.
Team Goldendog started as a small personal dream and, in three
short years, has grown to become an annual event. I am tremendously
thankful to everyone who has made Team Goldendog possible and
continue to look for us to participate in the Heineken Regatta for many
years to come.”
